Becky reaches for the sky at Gloucestershire Airport!

Gloucestershire Airport’s newest recruit, Becky Kiff is about to get her career off to a flying start!  The 18-year old from Dursley is the Airport’s new Landside Operations apprentice.  She’s just commenced an 18-month Business Administration course at Gloucestershire College and, in addition to her college work, she is training to deal with many aspects of the Airport’s day-to-day operations.

Airport landside operations manager, Kim Davenport said, “Our Landside Ops team performs a wide variety of roles. From checking in passengers for our Manx2.com Isle of Man, Jersey and Belfast City flights to meeting and greeting our VIP clients aboard executive jets. Over the months ahead, Becky will learn all about aviation procedures, flight planning and weather as well as dealing with our customers and assisting our accounts department with administration duties.

Head of operations, Darren Lewington added, “Becky is the fourth apprentice to join our team in the last few years.  We’ve had excellent results with all our new starters; their enthusiasm and commitment makes it a pleasure to have them on board and we really are able to mould them into the skill sets we need for the future of the business.”

Sharon Jones, Gloucestershire College Work-based Learning Coordinator said, “We are delighted that Becky has secured an apprenticeship with Gloucestershire Airport and she will relish working in this environment. Our mission is ‘transforming lives, supporting business’; we can only achieve this by working closely with employers such as Gloucestershire airport.”

Becky said, “I am so happy to have been given this opportunity and I have found an apprenticeship which is so varied and enables me to meet a variety of people. I am hoping this is the beginning of a future career.”
